Learn the science of winter weather from meteorologists at the National Weather Service! This class will cover winter weather safety and how meteorologists forecast winter weather, from a "Colorado Low" to the science of lake effect snow. Measurement of snow is of critical importance to the National Weather Service, and this class will also include tips on how to properly measure snow, ice, and even how to do a "snow core" to measure the water content of the snowpack. Meteorologists will also discuss the types of watches, warnings, and advisories issued and what they mean, including the new Snow Squall Warning. You'll get inside tips on how to track the forecast and be prepared for the winter ahead!
