  • Cooking with Mrs. Ronda

    Mrs. Ronda began learning to cook at age 10 and grew up growing, harvesting, and preserving food. She brings years of restaurant experience, concession work, and large‑group cooking, along with deep knowledge of cooking, baking, prep, safety, and storage. This class teaches kids the fundamentals of preparing food and using kitchen tools safely. Students will explore new ingredients, build confidence, and expand their ideas about food through fun, hands‑on experiences. Each class date introduces a new recipe to try, or a new appliance or tool to learn to use safely and effectively. Students will read and follow recipes, interpret food labels, practice safe appliance use, sample everything they make, and bring home recipes to share with their families.   • Teen Team Summer (Kids' Zone Volunteer program)

    Teen Team: Youth Volunteer Program Civic engagement is an important step in the growth of our youth. The Teen Team program provides students with an exciting opportunity to volunteer in a positive environment while developing valuable leadership skills for school and home. Program Overview Students will volunteer at one of our three Kids' Zone sites under the direct supervision of Kids' Zone staff. Each teen will be encouraged to engage, develop, and build positive relationships with elementary students, their peers, and our staff members. Eligibility This opportunity is available for youth who have successfully completed 6th grade. Scheduling & Hours Days: Monday through Friday Time Commitment: A limit of 4 hours per day for volunteering will be strictly enforced. Flexibility: Schedules will be determined based on student availability. We look forward to helping your teen build leadership skills and give back to the community!
  • American Girl Doll - Summer Reading Program

    Join Mrs. Roxy in her 4th American Girl Doll Summer Reading Program! Ms. Roxy is excited to promote a love of reading and host another American Girl Doll giveaway! After registering and paying, you will receive a reading log via email. For every 20 minutes you read with your child or that your child reads independently, fill in a circle on the log. Each 100 minutes earns you a ticket for a prize drawing of an American Girl doll. If you reach 1,800 minutes (30 hours), your name will be entered 18 times! Other prizes include: 400 minutes: American Girl Doll Water Bottle Sticker 800 minutes: Ice Cream Coupon 1200 minutes: An American Girl Doll Book 1800 minutes: American Girl Doll Tote Bag Your reading log must be turned in on or before August 17th as the winner will be drawn randomly on August 18th!     Get ready to cast your line into a summer full of stories! In the Fishing for Books Summer Reading Challenge, readers will “reel in” their reading time and collect fish as they go. Every time you read, you’ll add another catch to your fishing log and move closer to new fishing levels and prizes. For every 20 minutes of reading, color in or mark one fish on your log. Reading can include reading independently, reading to someone, listening to a story, or reading with a parent or caregiver. As you collect more fish, you’ll unlock fun fishing-themed rewards and earn entries into the end-of-summer prize drawing. Along the way, readers can also complete special “Fishing Missions,” such as reading outside, reading a nonfiction book about animals or nature,or reading before bedtime for a week. Each mission earns bonus fish and extra chances for prizes. Turn in your completed fishing log by the end of the summer to celebrate your reading accomplishments and see if your name is drawn for the grand prize. The more you read, the more fish you catch, and the better your chances of landing the big prize! Reading logs will be emailed to the adult who registered before June 8 so families can begin tracking their reading throughout the summer.     The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute provides everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The students will receive their certification card and instructions to access a digital copy of the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) Student book at the end of class. From getting started with your business to collaborating with parents and children to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen.

    Fishing Olympics is an active, hands-on event where campers rotate through a series of fishing-themed challenges designed to build basic angling skills while keeping the atmosphere fun and energetic. Participants will practice casting, learn a useful fishing knot, identify common fish species, and think strategically about what belongs in a tackle box. Each activity awards points, and campers celebrate their efforts with small prizes and recognition.
  • FTC Robotics Team-Hermantown Middle School

    Hermantown FIRST TECH CHALLENGE (FTC®) 2025-2026 competitive season Code, Design, and Compete with Robots! FIRST® Tech Challenge students work together with their mentors to design and build robots to compete in a dynamic and exciting challenge released every September. Teams program classroom-scale robots to follow autonomous commands before student drivers take control in two-on-two matches. On and off the field, students develop STEM skills, engage in community outreach, practice engineering innovation, and build confidence to help them succeed. Due to the popularity of this program, we are creating a second team this season! Who: Team selected students in grades 7-12, age 12-18 Dates: Sundays and Tuesdays starting September 7, 2025- February 15, 2026 Time: 5:30-8:30 PM in the MS Lecture hall and robotics room Cost: $200 Amelia Magnuson is the lead contact.
