HERMANTOWN FIRST LEGO LEAGUE CHALLENGE (FLLC): 2025–2026 SEASON What is FLL Challenge? Friendly competition is at the heart of the FIRST LEGO League Challenge (FLLC), where teams of students ages 9–14 (grades 4–9) explore real-world problems through research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering. Using LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime robots, teams design, build, and program a robot to complete missions in a themed Robot Game. In addition to the Robot Game, each team develops an Innovative Project — a creative solution to a real-world problem aligned with the season's theme. Weekly meetings (schedule determined by each team’s coach) Scrimmages and weekend competitions vary by team interest SEASON TIMELINE – 2025–2026 July/August – Kits are ordered, and coaches begin communicating with families. Teams can start practicing. August 31 – Official release of the 2025–2026 FLL Challenge: UNEARTHED! July 31 – Registration deadline. All fees are due at the time of registration. August–November – Weekly team meetings (frequency set by coaches); field trips or guest speakers may enhance research December 6 – Regional Tournament at Hermantown (Top teams will advance to Sectionals, State, and even Worlds!) Hermantown FIRST TECH CHALLENGE (FTC®) 2025-2026 competitive season Code, Design, and Compete with Robots! FIRST® Tech Challenge students work together with their mentors to design and build robots to compete in a dynamic and exciting challenge released every September. Teams program classroom-scale robots to follow autonomous commands before student drivers take control in two-on-two matches. On and off the field, students develop STEM skills, engage in community outreach, practice engineering innovation, and build confidence to help them succeed. Due to the popularity of this program, we are creating a second team this season! Students will master the art of tying their own trout flies while becoming proficient with the essential tools and techniques. Each session will build on the previous lessons, guaranteeing that students will be confident in tying independently by the completion of the class. Furthermore, students will learn how to tie various types of flies designed explicitly for successful trout fishing in this area. Participants under the age of 16, have to be accompanied by an adult. Please bring $10 in cash for the supply fee payable to the instructor on the first day of class.

We invite you to join us and the "College in the Schools" Director of Lake Superior College to learn about the various options available for your child, including Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO), College in the Schools (CITS), Advanced Placement (AP), and College Level Examination Program (CLEP). We will discuss the different opportunities and address any questions that you may have while guiding your middle and high school students to the next level.

Jeet Kune Do Fusion: Jeet Kune Do, Hapkido, Tae Kwon Do, Kempo and Cane are either for defense or for offense. What I have done with Jeet Kune Do Fusion is to combine (fuse) Jeet Kune Do with Hapkido for self-defense along with some kicks and blocks from Kempo, the fighting range from Tae Kwon Do and weapon disarming from Cane. Jeet Kune Do Fusion is not only a complete stand-alone system but it will work well with other systems. This system is for adults of all ages and limitations. No special ability needed. Kick your fitness into gear with this interval training approach incorporating dynamic moves using kettlebells to enhance your strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance. Our experienced instructor, Lindsay Moen, will help you burn calories with this upbeat full-body work. Kettlebells will be provided but not shared. Participants should bring an exercise mat.
