HERMANTOWN FIRST LEGO LEAGUE CHALLENGE (FLLC): 2025–2026 SEASON What is FLL Challenge? Friendly competition is at the heart of the FIRST LEGO League Challenge (FLLC), where teams of students ages 9–14 (grades 4–9) explore real-world problems through research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering. Using LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime robots, teams design, build, and program a robot to complete missions in a themed Robot Game. In addition to the Robot Game, each team develops an Innovative Project — a creative solution to a real-world problem aligned with the season's theme. Weekly meetings (schedule determined by each team’s coach) Scrimmages and weekend competitions vary by team interest SEASON TIMELINE – 2025–2026 July/August – Kits are ordered, and coaches begin communicating with families. Teams can start practicing. August 31 – Official release of the 2025–2026 FLL Challenge: UNEARTHED! July 31 – Registration deadline. All fees are due at the time of registration. August–November – Weekly team meetings (frequency set by coaches); field trips or guest speakers may enhance research December 6 – Regional Tournament at Hermantown (Top teams will advance to Sectionals, State, and even Worlds!) We can only form teams with enough coaches, so please consider volunteering! Coaching is a fun and rewarding way to support students as they learn to collaborate, build, and problem-solve. Hermantown FIRST TECH CHALLENGE (FTC®) 2025-2026 competitive season Code, Design, and Compete with Robots! FIRST® Tech Challenge students work together with their mentors to design and build robots to compete in a dynamic and exciting challenge released every September. Teams program classroom-scale robots to follow autonomous commands before student drivers take control in two-on-two matches. On and off the field, students develop STEM skills, engage in community outreach, practice engineering innovation, and build confidence to help them succeed. Due to the popularity of this program, we are creating a second team this season! Proctor Hermantown Community Education is proud to partner with A+ Driving School for fully online classes. Youth Driver Education courses are designed to teach your student how to become a responsible and low risk driver. At the end of the program, your student will have gained the knowledge to successfully pass the written permit test, confidently drive on the road, and be prepared for his/her driver license exam. Each student will participate in 30 hours of online self-paced learning and six hours of behind-the-wheel with our licensed staff. Your students Behind-The-Wheel instructor will be Erik Edmunds. Civic Engagement is an important step in the growth of our youth and Teen Team will provide students with an opportunity to volunteer in a positive environment and develop leadership skills for school and home. Students will volunteer at our Hermantown Summer Kids' Zone site under the supervision of Kids' Zone staff. Each teen will be encouraged to engage, develop, and build positive relationships with elementary students, their peers, and staff. This opportunity is available for youth who have completed 6th grade or above. 12+ would be preferred. Volunteer hours would take place between Monday and Friday. There is no minimum or maximum number of hours required. Schedules will be determined by student availability.

Jeet Kune Do Fusion: Jeet Kune Do, Hapkido, Tae Kwon Do, Kempo and Cane are either for defense or for offense. What I have done with Jeet Kune Do Fusion is to combine (fuse) Jeet Kune Do with Hapkido for self-defense along with some kicks and blocks from Kempo, the fighting range from Tae Kwon Do and weapon disarming from Cane. Jeet Kune Do Fusion is not only a complete stand-alone system but it will work well with other systems. This system is for adults of all ages and limitations. No special ability needed.
