Our Youth Driver Education courses are designed to teach your student how to become a responsible, safe, and low-risk driver. Taught entirely by Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) licensed teachers, this comprehensive program gives students the knowledge and confidence to successfully pass their written permit test, master the road, and ace their driver's license exam. 📋 Course Highlights Classroom Instruction: 33 hours of engaging classroom learning. Behind-the-Wheel (BTW): 6 hours of private, hands-on driving instruction with our licensed staff. Expert Instruction: In-person classes and behind-the-wheel training are taught by Mr. George Olson. 💻 Flexible Learning Options We offer two learning paths to fit your family's summer schedule: In-Person Course: Traditional classroom setting with Mr. Olson. Fully Online Course: Complete your classroom hours from home. 🚗 Online Youth Driver Education In Partnership with A+ Driving School Proctor Hermantown Community Education is proud to partner with A+ Driving School to offer a fully online, flexible driver education program. Our courses are designed to teach your student how to become a responsible, safe, and low-risk driver. By the end of the program, your student will have the knowledge and confidence to pass their written permit test, master the road, and ace their driver's license exam. 📋 Course Highlights Classroom Instruction: 30 hours of online, self-paced learning. Behind-the-Wheel (BTW): 6 hours of private, hands-on driving instruction with our licensed staff. Your Instructor: Behind-the-Wheel training will be provided by Erik Edmunds. 📅 Important Dates & Meetings Start Date: November 2 – All course access information and instructions will be emailed to registered families on this day. Parent Meeting: Wednesday, November 18th from 5:00 – 6:30 PM * Location: Hermantown Community Learning Center (The building located between the High School and Elementary School in Hermantown). ⚠️ Program Policies & Requirements Age Requirement: Class is open to students 14 years and older. Please note that the state written permit test cannot be taken until the student's 15th birthday. 🚗 Behind-the-Wheel Instruction Only Students who completed their classroom instruction through another organization (such as an online program or private driving school) are welcome to complete their 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training with our licensed staff. ⚠️ Important Note Before Registering: Please reach out to us before registering. We must first verify that we have an available behind-the-wheel instructor who can take on your student. (Note: If your student completed their classroom instruction directly through us, you do not need to do this; an instructor is already assigned to you.) 📋 Steps to Register: Check Availability First: Before you sign up online, please email Ines Chandler at ichandler@isd700.org to confirm that an instructor has an open spot. Register Online: Once availability is confirmed, participants must officially register for this course prior to driving with our staff. Instructor Assignment: Instructors are assigned based on their current scheduling availability.

⚠️ Missed Behind-the-Wheel Session Fee A $50 fee is charged for any missed Behind-the-Wheel driving session without proper advanced notice. Important Policy: This fee must be paid in full before your student can be scheduled for their next behind-the-wheel driving appointment.
