This class is dedicated to children of mixed ages and caregivers who want to learn, play, and grow together. It's a great way to connect through play-based learning, songs, stories, and hands-on activities that support early learning and social-emotional growth. Families stay together in the classroom as they continue learning and playing alongside the early childhood staff. Our licensed parent educator will also provide supportive resources on topics such as child development, routines, behavior, and family life. Early Childhood Screening is a free program in Minnesota that checks how a child is developing and growing. Early Childhood Screening is a brief, simple process used to identify potential health or developmental problems in young children. It includes a review of height, weight, vision, hearing, speech, social and emotional progress and overall development. Screening in early childhood supports children's readiness for kindergarten and promotes positive child health and developmental outcomes through referrals to early learning opportunities. Note: Screenings are typically most successful at 3 years and 6 months of age; however, if you have any developmental concerns, please feel free to register. Be sure to sign in or create your account before selecting your screening appointment. You must also "check out" in order to finalize your "purchase", even though there is NO COST to screening.

HERMANTOWN FIRST LEGO LEAGUE CHALLENGE (FLLC): 2025–2026 SEASON Friendly competition is at the heart of FLL Challenge, as teams of students ages 9-14 engage in research, problem-solving, coding, engineering, building, and programming. A LEGO® Education SPIKE Prime robot that navigates the missions of a robot game. Teams also design an innovative solution to a real-world problem relevant to the theme as part of the Challenge. TEAM LOGISTICS 6 or more students per team 2 parent volunteer coaches per team (coaches must attend practices and competitions) The team attends weekly meetings Attend scrimmages and competitions on weekends based on the team's interest 2026-2027 FIRST LEGO Season: July/August: Kits are ordered, and coaches send information to their team members about practice schedules. August 31st: FIRST FLL Challenge is released and the season officially starts!. The cost to participate is $175 per student. This will cover costs for tournament registration and team shirts July 31st is the registration deadline for the 2026-27 season. Who: Students ages 9-14 (4th-9th grade) INTERESTED IN COACHING? Hermantown Lego League provides guidance, support, and resources to run an FLL team. Please consider coaching a team. I can only run teams if I have volunteer coaches. I would love to have an all-girls robotics team this year! Coaching a FIRST LEGO League team is a rewarding experience! As an FLL coach, you can empower students with a sense of accomplishment by helping them know they have full ownership of the solution they create. Team members are responsible for all research, documentation, programming, and building. The coach acts as a facilitator, guiding the children in building a robot, conducting research, and developing core values. Knowledge about robotics or programming is not required to be a coach. Hermantown FIRST TECH CHALLENGE (FTC®) 2025-2026 competitive season Code, Design, and Compete with Robots! FIRST® Tech Challenge students work together with their mentors to design and build robots to compete in a dynamic and exciting challenge released every September. Teams program classroom-scale robots to follow autonomous commands before student drivers take control in two-on-two matches. On and off the field, students develop STEM skills, engage in community outreach, practice engineering innovation, and build confidence to help them succeed. Due to the popularity of this program, we are creating a second team this season! Who: Team selected students in grades 7-12, age 12-18 Dates: Sundays and Tuesdays starting September 7, 2025- February 15, 2026 Time: 5:30-8:30 PM in the MS Lecture hall and robotics room Cost: $200 Amelia Magnuson is the lead contact.
