Intro to Nature RailHawks Preschool is a continuum of services offered by our Early Learning team for children preparing to transition to kindergarten the following year. Our licensed educators take the traditional preschool classroom outdoors. Students spend at least half the day outdoors in our school forest, engaging and learning through outdoor exploration. Research shows that open-ended play in nature allows children to use creativity, develop self-regulation skills, and enjoy various physical and mental health benefits. Our nature preschool programs focus on nature-related thematic units, including insects, trees, seasons, hibernation, and more, as students continue their growth in literacy, math, science, and social-emotional learning in preparation for a successful learner. Our staff participates in continuous quality training and professional development to excel at using best practices for Supporting Successful Learners. Reading Pals is a volunteer reading program connecting students at Hermantown and Proctor elementary schools with adult role models. This program meets once a week, allowing students to read to volunteers or listen to them read, with a focus on improving reading skills and building positive relationships. We will launch Reading Pals in the first week of October at all three locations: Bay View Elementary on Tuesdays, Pike Lake Elementary on Wednesdays, and Hermantown Elementary on Thursdays, running until the end of May. In this hands-on STEAM Academy course, students will dive into the exciting world of robotics and engineering. Through five dynamic sessions, young innovators will explore problem-solving, design thinking, and coding fundamentals—all while developing essential 21st-century skills. Each student will work with robot kits, use iPads for programming, and engage with curated project materials designed to spark creativity and collaboration. Whether they're constructing their first robot or coding a new challenge, learners will be guided by experienced educators in a fun, supportive environment. Students must participate in the Level 1 intro class before registering for the Level 2 class Let’s build the future—one robot at a time!

Slime Time! Create & Customize Your Own Gooey Creations Get ready to stretch, squish, and sparkle! In this hands-on class, students in grades K–5 will dive into the world of slime science as they learn to make two different types of slime. From fluffy to glittery, each slime will be fully customizable with colors and mix-ins like beads or foam balls. Kids will explore simple chemistry concepts while expressing their creativity and taking home their personalized slime masterpieces. It’s messy, magical, and totally fun!

Intermediate players develop technical and tactical skills along with the continued development of the fundamentals while playing live drills and matches. Players build character and a basic understanding of the game while working on the foundations for serving, rallying and scoring while continuing to build hand-eye coordination and movement skills.
