RailHawks 4 Half Days - Pike LakeRailHawks PreschoolIntro to Nature RailHawks Preschool is a continuum of services offered by our Early Learning team for children preparing to transition to kindergarten the following year. Our licensed educators take the traditional preschool classroom outdoors. Students spend at least half the day outdoors in our school forest, engaging and learning through outdoor exploration. Research shows that open-ended play in nature allows children to use creativity, develop self-regulation skills, and enjoy various physical and mental health benefits. Our nature preschool programs focus on nature-related thematic units, including insects, trees, seasons, hibernation, and more, as students continue their growth in literacy, math, science, and social-emotional learning in preparation for a successful learner. Intro to Nature RailHawk Preschool is a 4-Star Parent Aware-rated program. Our staff participates in continuous quality training and professional development to excel at using best practices for Supporting Successful Learners. Reading Pals Volunteer Sign up (2025-2026)Adult ClassesReading Pals is a volunteer reading program connecting students at Hermantown and Proctor elementary schools with adult role models. This program meets once a week, allowing students to read to volunteers or listen to them read, with a focus on improving reading skills and building positive relationships. We will launch Reading Pals in the first week of October at all three locations: Bay View Elementary on Tuesdays, Pike Lake Elementary on Wednesdays, and Hermantown Elementary on Thursdays, running until the end of May.
